As we say farewell to Google+ in Socialbakers Suite, we’d like to share some key updates and timelines for a smooth transition.
In October 2018, Google announced they would be closing down the consumer version of Google+ and its APIs. They shared the following timeline and information:
On March 7, 2019, all Google+ APIs will be shut down. It's a progressive shutdown beginning in late January, with calls to these APIs starting to intermittently fail as early as January 28, 2019. The consumer Google+ experience will conclude in April 2019.
The most commonly used APIs that are being shut down include:
- Google+ REST API
- Google+ Web API
- Google+ Android SDK
- Google+ Domains API
- Google+ Pages API

Google+ and Socialbakers Suite
What does this news mean for the usage of Socialbakers Suite for Google+?
Since Google+ will be shut down, any Suite functionality that caters to Google+ will no longer be available, including: adding Google+ social profiles, publishing to Google+, and community management for Google+.
You will no longer be able to add Google+ social profiles to Suite or schedule and publish for Suite’s Publisher starting on January 23rd. Complete removal of Google+ from Socialbakers Suite will occur on April 30th.
Historical data for Community and Publisher will be available until the end of April. The open social profile slot will be available.
