Using Business Manager alongside Suite to work on your social media campaigns, you might have noticed some discrepancies between the number of Interactions in the two platforms. There are a few common causes for why you might be seeing different Interaction values in Business Manager and Suite.
- First, the data in Suite is derived from Facebook’s API. As the API is a free service, Facebook doesn’t have an obligation to keep the values as updated as the ones displayed in the Business Manager. While the data in Suite is based on Facebook’s metrics, at times but not often, the data might not be a perfect match. Moreover, not all of the metrics that are found in Business Manager are in Suite - as is the case with Stories metrics.
- We don’t collect data on posts indefinitely – we only collect data for posts that are less than three months old. In summary, when a post is older than three months, we don’t receive updated data on it from Facebook anymore.
- The 3-month mark makes sense for our customers, as strategies should be based on the most current posts and their performance, current trends, and the way audiences have been responding most recently. Moreover, the average lifespan of a post is usually no more than 3 days – after that, the increase in interactions is minimal. The 3-month mark – while not including every single interaction on the post in question – is a practical timespan for reporting on campaigns.
- In Suite, interactions are counted towards the day when the content was published, while in Business Manager, you see the interactions received on a given day. This means that if a page receives 10 interactions today on a post published on Tuesday, Business Manager will count them towards today, while in Suite they will be counted towards Tuesday.
We hope that clarifying the differences between the Interaction values will emphasize that the insights you find in Suite are accurate, so that you can always make data-driven decisions.
